Me and my colleagues took a half day city tour yesterday. Price for 3 persons is 25 US Dollar each. This includes a private air-conditioned vehicle, english speaking tour guide, all admission fees and reasonable supply of drinking water. We visited the following places.
1. The Reunification Palace : Here on April 30th 1975 the "American War" officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
2. War Remnants Museum : Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war.
3. Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office : Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture.
4. Ben Thanh Market : This bustling market is very popular with tourists, primarily due to it's central location. It has a wide selection of goods ranging from fake Nike shoes to beatiful silk Ao Dais.

Apart from these places, we also visited the local market, the local handicraft place, Goddess of Ocean Temple in China town and lunch at Pho 2000 (made famous when President Clinton ate there).Labels: Business trip, Travel, Vietnam
